Distribution. Philippines, Sri Lanka, Laos, Cambodia ( Gates 1945b, 1972; Blakemore 2007a; Thai & Samphon 1991; Thai & Do 1989).

Vietnamese name. Giun bahl.

Remarks. Although the morphology of the male region of M. saigonensis is similar to that of M. peguana , the distance between male pores is totally different among the two species. Thai (1983, 2000) had suggested that saigonensis is a synonym of " Pheretima " bahli Gates, 1945 ; however, Blakemore (2005, 2016) restored both saigonensis and bangoiana separately from Metaphire bahli .
