Distribution—summary. To date, 41 species in the genus Dienerella have been described worldwide—19 from the subgenus Cartoderema and 22 from the subgenus Dienerella . Most of the species from this genus are distributed in three zoogeographic realms: the Palaearctic (29), Neotropical (13) and Nearctic (8). The largest number of species from the subgenus Cartoderema occur in Europe (13) and North Africa (7), while the species from the subgenus Dienerella occur mainly in Asia (12) and the Neotropical realm (11) ( Tab. 1 View TABLE 1 ). Species from the subgenus Dienerella have at least one representative in each geographical realm of the world, in contrast to Cartoderema species, which have not been reported from the Australian or Oriental realms.
