Widespread but scattered in tropical America, known from Florida (as L. cladiophora R.M. Schust. ), the Greater Antilles, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil, Surinam ( Holz et al. 2001; Schäfer-Verwimp et al. 2006; Gradstein 1997), a record from Hawaii has been rejected (Grolle 1985); second record for Central America. The specimen 30850 has been included in molecular studies by Heinrichs et al. (2013).
