Description. Body black, shining; elytra and legs yellow brown. Forebody sparsely pubescent, punctate and striate. Body length [average] male, 4.59 mm; female, 4.44 mm.

Male: Head (Fig. 5-1C, 5-2A) slightly broader than pronotum. Vertex extremely convex, with small round punctures and a few striae, denser laterally; mid-longitudinal sulcus deep, fused with deep transverse impression on each side before base to “┴” shape sulcus. Supra-antennal ridge with margin incrassate. Temples dilated, approximately two times as long as eyes. Clypeus nearly trapezoidal, about 1/3 of total head length, convex, glabrous, with a few punctures, anterior margin produced, nearly straight. Epistomal suture with lateral portions obliquely inward, running backward to level of anterior margin of eyes.

Occipital suture straight or slightly curved forward in middle. Antenna filiform, segment IV globular, VI–X short and transverse, with ultimate one stilliform. Neck without smooth area.

Pronotum (Fig. 5-1D, 5-2A) transverse, broadest at near anterior 1/3; disc slightly convex, sparsely with small punctures and striae; mid-longitudinal sulcus broad and shallow, narrowing to base, with two shallower and broader paramedial sulci and bordered by much sharper longitudinal carina between mid-longitudinal sulcus and paramedial sulcus; shallow depressions close to lateral margins. Anterior margin nearly straight. Lateral and posterior margins clear, with posterior angles obtuse but much obvious. Lateral margin weakly crenate on posterior 1/4 or not crenate at all. Scutellum with crest-shaped impression, with median lobe sharply pointed. Elytra with closely striate and punctate, not pubescent; lateral margin curved and posterior margins truncate and slightly slant. Abdomen coriaceous, covered with punctures and pubescence. Sternite VII (Fig. 5-1G, 5-2B) with posterior margin nearly straight and bearing long setae laterally. Sternite VIII (Fig. 5-1H, 5-2C) with posterior margin slightly biemarginate and bearing long setae laterally, obtusely angulate in middle and slightly beyond lateral angles posteriorly.

Aedeagus (Fig. 5-1K, L, N, 5-2E–G) with median lobe elongate, inflated at base and shortly narrowing to apex; apical orifice large and ventral orifice crescentic; internal sac of median lobe with simple sclerites. Parameres (Fig. 5-1M, 5-2D) arm-like, closely situated to each other, with short and thick seta near apex.

Female. Head (Fig. 5-1E) smaller than male, disc with deep and straight mid-longitudinal sulcus not fused with shallow impression on each side. Temples shorter than eyes. Sternite VII with posterior margin straight or weekly emarginate. Sternite VIII (Fig. 5-1J) with posterior margin broadly rounded and protruded in middle. Spermatheca (Fig. 5- 1I) with base bulb-like, with apical part clavate and slightly curved.

Distribution. China (Sichuan).

Etymology. The species epithet is from the Latin terms " nigeli- " (black) and "sculptilis " (sculptured), to indicate the relative dark color and clear patterns of the striae and punctures on head.

Differential diagnosis. This new species is similar to A. vicinus ( Sharp, 1874) in appearance. It can be distinguished from the latter by the “┴” shape groove on head, the depressed clypeus, and the male sternite VIII with posterior margin bi-emarginate and obtusely angulate in the middle; whereas A. vicinus ( Sharp, 1874) has clypeus at least slightly convex and male sternite VIII with posterior margin broadly emarginate.

The new species is similar to A. sikkimi ( Fauvel, 1905) in the structure of the male genitalia but can be distinguished by the structures of internal sac and median lobe.
