Additional material examined. 1 ♂ ( UPSA): “ South Africa / Western Cape Province / Elandsbaai / S 32.27956° E 018.41713° / 16. 8. 2015 / C. Deschodt & W. P. Size range. Males length: 9.8–12.6 mm, width: 7.0– 9.1 mm; females length: 9.7–13.7 mm, width: 7.4–8.8 mm.
Differential diagnosis. Externally the species is closely similar to M. namakwanus ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 3–6 ) however, it can be easily distinguished by the following combinations of characteristics: irregular punctuation of pronotum disc ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 58–63 ), elytral interstriae shagreened and covered by small shiny tubercles ( Fig. 72 View FIGURES 70–75 ), the sclerite of the internal sac of the aedeagus curved basely with a small lateral process ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 24–39 ).
Habitat and distribution. This species was collected from a few localities occupying a small distribution range in the southwest of Western Cape Province ( Fig. 2). Based on ( Olson et al. 2001) terrestrial ecoregions of the world, the range of this species comprises the southwest part of the moister Fynbos and Renosterveld ecoregion and part of the montane Fynbos and Renosterveld in Cedarberg.
Remarks. Due to it’s small, limited range, inability to fly and the vulnerable habitats it occurs in, the species has been assessed as NEAR Threatened in the IUCN Red List (Category B, Davis 2013).
