( Figs 92–95 View FIGURES 89–97 , 227 View FIGURE 227 )

Andraegoidus distinguendus Hüdepohl, 1985: 46 View in CoL , figs. 19, 20; Monné, 1994: 86 (cat.); Monné & Giesbert, 1995: 142 (check); Monné, 2005: 581 (cat.); Monné & Bezark, 2010: 150 (check); Botero & Monné, 2011: 58

Male. Integument brownish-orange except: apex of mandibles black, segments III–XII yellow at basal 2/3; elytra brownish-yellow. Scutellum with margins black.

Head with short and whitish hairs. Antennal tubercles with fine and dense punctures. Upper eye lobes wellseparated, distance between upper lobes equal to twice the width of an upper lobe. Submentum excavated. Genae with short and whitish hairs near eyes and with longer hairs near ventral region. Antennae 11–segmented; exceeding elytral apices at segment X; pedicel and segments III–X slightly expanded; scape coarsely punctate, segments III–XI with fine and shallow punctures, segment III with shallow punctures and short and dense pubescence, denser in segments IV–XI; segment III 1/3 longer than scape and subequal to IV–X; segment XI 1/3 longer than X. Prothorax with long, erect and whitish hairs, concentrated at sides and in prosternum. Prothorax 1/3 wider than long; with fine, deep, dense and confluent sexually dimorphic punctation. Postmedian tubercle feebly prominent. Sexually dimorphic punctation absent on transverse carina, median and postmedian elevations, anterior and posterior depressions, anterior and posterior borders, posterior region of pronotum and fine median longitudinal band through the pronotum. Postmedian elevations with coarse and shallow punctures. Anterior margin of the prosternal sulcus smooth. Process prosternal smooth, elevated and slightly narrowed at middle; at most subequal as broad as procoxal cavity. Mesosternal process, at most 1/5 as broad as mesocoxal cavity; with anterior projection; posterior margin sinuous.

Scutellum approximately 1/7 length of elytra, with short, dense and whitish hairs; fine, shallow and sparse punctures. Elytra three times as long as prothorax; apices truncate and unarmed.

Femora with short and sparse hairs, ventrally with long and denser hairs. Tibiae with short and denser hairs. Sternites I–V smooth, with long and short, whitish and sparse hairs. Sternite I 1.5 times longer than II, segments II– V subequal in length, segment V with apical margin slightly truncate.

Female. Integument brownish-orange. Apex of scape and pedicel black; segments III–VII yellow with apex dark brown; segments VIII–XI yellow. Scutellum black. Prothorax red, laterally black. Femora brown; tibiae and tarsi orange. Ventral region black, except metasternum disc, prosternal process and sternite I red.

Antennae reaching apical third of elytra; segments IV–VI subequal in length, segments VII–XI gradually decreasing in length.

Prothorax with coarse punctures in median region, with long, erect and yellow hairs. Prothorax less swollen than in males, lateral tubercles more visible. Mesosternal process at most subequal as broad as mesocoxal cavity.

Measurements (mm). female/male. n= 1/1. Total length, 16.60/17.60; prothorax length, 3.75/4.18; greatest prothorax width, 5.17/5.57; elytral length, 11.09/11.56; humeral width, 5.56/5.70.

Type material. We examined the male holotype ( Figs 92–93 View FIGURES 89–97 ) and the female paratype ( Figs. 94–95 View FIGURES 89–97 ), both from Brazil (Minas Gerais) ( MNHN) .

Discussion. Andraegoidus distinguendus differs from the other species of the genus by the following characters: entire prothorax with dense, erect, long and whitish hairs and the presence of short, dense and whitish hairs on the scutellum. In A. variegatus the long and denser hairs are only at sides of the prothorax and on the prosternum. The color pattern can be similar to some specimens of A. homoplatus but differs in possessing the pubescence mentioned above.

Geographical distribution. The species was described from Brazil, Minas Gerais ( Fig. 227 View FIGURE 227 ).

Specimens examined. BRAZIL, Minas Gerais: Caraça , male (holotype) and female (paratype), II semestre.1884, Germain P. leg. ( MNHN) .
