( Figs 2a–k View FIGURE 2 )
Axinoscymnus cardilobus Ren et Pang, 1992: 20 .— Pang et al. 2004: 90, Ren et al. 2009: 54.
Diagnosis. This species is similar to A. apioides Kuznetsov et Ren in external appearance, but can be distinguished from the latter by the pointed apex of penis ( Fig. 2i View FIGURE 2 ) and its penis guide longer than 1/2 length of parameres ( Fig. 2j View FIGURE 2 ).
Description. TL: 1.51–1.62 mm, TW: 1.03–1.11 mm, TH: 0.78–0.81 mm, TL/TW: 1.45–1.47, EL/EW: 1.10– 1.13, PL/PW: 0.52–0.54, HW/PW: 0.67–0.68, PW/EW: 0.68–0.72.
Body oval, weekly convex, dorsum with white pubescence ( Figs 2a–c View FIGURE 2 ). Head, antennae and mouthparts pale yellow ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ), tip of mandibles brown. Pronotum and scutellar shield pale yellow. Elytra pale yellow ( Figs 2a–c View FIGURE 2 ). Underside pale yellow, with yellow mesoventrite, metaventrite and elytral epipleurae. Legs pale yellow.
Head with fine frontal punctures, as large as eye facets, 1.0–1.5 diameters apart. Eyes densely faceted, interocular distance about 0.33 times of head width ( Fig. 2c View FIGURE 2 ). Pronotal punctures slightly larger than those on frons, 1.0–2.0 diameters apart. Surface of elytra with punctures much larger than those on pronotum, separated by 1.0–2.5 diameters.
Abdominal postcoxal lines complete and moderately recurved, reaching 3/4 length of ventrite 1 ( Fig. 2h View FIGURE 2 ), area enclosed by the lines finely and sparsely punctate, irregularly distributed, broadly smooth along the lines; ventrite 1 with coarse and sparse punctures at middle, uniformly distributed.
Male genitalia. Penis short and slender, distinctly broadened at base, apex pointed ( Fig. 2i View FIGURE 2 ); tegmen with penis guide subtrapezoidal, parallel in basal 1/4, then gradually tapering to apex in inner view ( Fig. 2k View FIGURE 2 ); shorter than parameres in lateral view; parameres stout and elongate oval with few setae in lateral view ( Fig. 2j View FIGURE 2 ).
