Spialia wrefordi , along with S. dromus and S. ploetzi is placed in the dromus group of Spialia by De Jong (1978). It was described from north-east Uganda (Evans 1951) and is restricted to this area and north-western Kenya as far east as Meru and Marsabit Parks (De Jong 1978, Larsen 1991). It is restricted to the drylands of north and northwest Kenya. Nothing more is known of the habitat and incidence of this species, and the food plants and life history are unknown.
