Head ( Figure 19a View Figure 19 ): Frontal vitta blackish with a brown-coloured triangular band that is wider at the base of the ocellar triangle and narrower at the insertion of the antenna. Ocellar triangle blackish. Fronto-orbital plate and face yellowish pollinose. Parafacial and gena silvery pollinose. Antenna dark brown. Apex of pedicel yellow. Postpedicel dark brown. Arista brown. Thorax ( Figure 19c View Figure 19 ): Ground-colour black, with brown pollinose areas. Scutum with five narrow, hard to see, dark brown stripes, the two median of which converge with the dorsocentral setae. Pleura black with silvery pollinose. Wing: Hyaline. Calypteres whitish with slightly yellow margins. Halter brown. Legs: Black, yellowish distally. Yellowish tibiae and tarsi. Abdomen: Ground-colour black, with silvery pollinoseand spots well-defined in the dorsal and lateral region of tergites III, IV and V.

Head. Distance between eyes, at insertion of the antenna, 0.38 times head width. Four pairs of frontal setae. Postpedicel is 2 times the length of the pedicel.

Thorax. Intra-alar setae 1+1. Supra-alar setae 1+2, second postsutural less developed. Postalar setae 2. Intrapostalar seta developed. Basal postpronotal setae 2. Notopleural setae 2. Scutellum with lateral and apical pair of well-developed setae. Anepisternum with six well-developed setae. Katepisternal setae 2+1.

Legs. Fore femur pd and pv with a complete row of setae; fore tibia d and pv with an apical seta; apical tarsi slightly dilated. a of the mid femur with median seta; ad with five setae; av with three setae on the basal half; v with four setae on the basal half; p with two pre-apical setae; mid tibia p with a median seta; d, pv, v and av with a pre-apical seta. Hind femur ad and av with a complete row of setae; hind tibia a with a median seta; d, ad, a, av and v with one pre-apical seta.

Abdomen. Sternite 5 with a slender median, apical directed process in addition to the large lateral process ( Figure 6e View Figure 6 ).

Terminalia . Cercal plate longer than wide, tooth-shaped and setulose; basal margin with a shallow incision and apical margin with a medium central incision; rounded apex ( Figure 7e View Figure 7 ). Phallus elongate with membranous apex, with projections on the anterior surface ( Figure 9h View Figure 9 ); postgonite with setulae ( Figure 9f View Figure 9 ), elongate, with scale-like projections on the apex ( Figure 9e – g View Figure 9 ); phallapodeme more or less enlarged on the apex; ephiphallus reduced ( Figure 9e View Figure 9 ).

Female. Measurements (n = 1): Body length: 6.4 mm; wing length 5.2 mm. Similar to male, differs in distance between eyes being 0.45 times head width. Tibia pd, p and pv each with an apical seta.

Terminalia . Epiproct slender with two long seta, measuring 5 times the length of the epiproct; cercus shorter than hypoproct, setulose, rounded at apex; hypoproct round and setulose. Sternite 7 more or less wider than long; sternite 6 with six apical setae ( Figure 11 g – i View Figure 11 ).

Comments. Lispe setuligera was described from three males and a female from Valparaiso and Coquimbo, Chile ( Stein 1911), and the lectotype was designated by Pont (2001). The fifth sternite, cercal plate and phallic complex were first illustrated without analysis of the type material ( Lopes 1992).
