Generitype of Daphne Linnaeus (vide Meyer in Bull. Cl. Phys.-Math. Acad. Imp. Sci. St.- Pétersbourg 1: 358. 1843).

Current name: Daphne laureola L. View in CoL ( Thymelaeaceae ).

Note: Daphne laureola , with the type designated by Mathew, was proposed as conserved type of the genus by Jarvis (in Taxon 41: 572. 1992). However, the proposal was eventually ruled unnecessary by the General Committee (see Barrie, l.c. 55: 795-796. 2006 for a review of the history of this and related proposals).
