Eupogonius subaeneus View in CoL ( Fig. 24b View Figures 21–24 ) was described based on three specimens (unknown sex) from Nicaragua. Chemsak and Linsley (1970) designated a female specimen deposited at BMNH as lectotype. This species especially differs from E. marmoratus View in CoL by the elytral pubescence on posterior half of the elytra distinctly longer and denser.
Comparing the holotype of E. subaeneus and the specimens available with the holotype of E. columbianus ( Fig. 24a View Figures 21–24 ) it is evident that this species, based on a single specimen from Colombia, is a junior synonym of the former. This is clearly apparent based on elytral pubescence and color of the antennomeres.
Material examined. NICARAGUA, Nueva Segovia: Jalapa ( Jesus Mountain coffee plantation), 1 female, 1–5.VI.2013, R. Vigneault col. ( ACMT) . Matagalpa: La Dalia ( La Sombra ecolodge), 1 male, 6–8. VI.2013, R. Vigneault col. ( MZSP) .
