Remarks. The species is widely distributed throughout the northern territory from West to East of Afrotropical Region ( Basilewsky 1960; Hackel & Farkač 2013; Lorenz 2021). The male adult specimen from Guinea-Bissau was misinterpreted and identified as M. clasispilus Basilewsky, 1967 (see Serrano 2009). Taking this into account, M. clasispilus is excluded from the known fauna of this country, while M. biguttatus is recorded for Guinea-Bissau for the first time.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 3e View FIGURE 3 ). Median lobe short, slightly knee shaped at the base, slightly dilated behind the middle, apical lamella short, acuminated at apex (dorsal view), downward (lateral view), ostium with one pair of scaled and sclerotized stripes in latero-dorsal region, bending downward near apex, becoming membranous and ending in a very large curled inward sclerotized plate; left paramere slightly longer than wide, rounded at apex, with a round tooth in postero-dorsal edge.
Female genitalia ( Figs. 4e, f View FIGURE 4 ). Gonocoxite 1 subtriangular; gonocoxite 2 largely sickle shaped, apex sharp ( Fig. 4f View FIGURE 4 ) or rounded ( Fig. 4e View FIGURE 4 ); dorsal surface concave, almost all covered with numerous setae, several setae inserted on an outer sub marginal longitudinal rib, subapical inner margin with five setae; ventral surface convex, smooth.
Distribution: Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea ( Fernando Poo), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Republic of Chad, Republic of Ivory Coast, Senegal.
