Pimelodus albicans (Valenciennes) ( Siluriformes , Pimelodidae ). SI: body cavity. SD: unknown. L: Buenos Aires Province: La Plata River. R: Oliva et al. (1981) (see note below).
Note. Oliva et al. (1981) reported specimens of Pomphorhynchus bulbocolli in the body cavity of Pimelodus albicans ,which is an atypical site of infection.This species identification might be wrong.The acanthocephalans collected from Pimelodus albicans by Oliva et al. (1981) probably belong to Pomphorhynchus sphaericus Gil de Pertierra, Spatz & Doma, 1996 which was described from the same host and locality by Gil de Pertierra et al. (1996).
