Distribution.
Recorded from San Diego, California, and Gulf of California to Naos Island, Panama and Galapagos Islands ( Wicksten and Hendrickx 2003)
Remarks.
According to Abele (1972), specimens of A. panamensis commonly inhabit sandy-muddy substrates with burrows of larger invertebrates. In the type locality, one specimen was found in the tube of a polychaete worm, but other crustaceans, such as callianasids, brachyurans and stomatopods were present in the same site. During our samplings, several specimens of callianassids were also collected together with, or near sites where A. panamensis was found. This is the first record of the species at Bahía Santa María-La Reforma, Sinaloa.
