Basionym: Achnanthes montana var. tropica Hustedt (1939: 380) ≡ Platessa montana var. tropica (Hustedt) Lange-Bertalot in Ettl et al. (Eds.) Süsswasserflora von Mitteleuropa 2 (4): 445. 2004. Illustrated by Hustedt in Schmidt (1937), pl. 409, figs 58−63 and by Simonsen in Simonsen (1987), pl. 334, figs 35−52.
Platessa tropica comb . et stat., nov. is clearly a distinct species from tropical region ( Indonesia so far) while Platessa montana ( Krasske 1929: 350) Lange-Bertalot in Krammer & Lange-Bertalot (2004: 445) is a species originally found in aerial habitats from Europe ( Krasske 1929, Lange-Bertalot et al. 1996).
