Basionym: Achnanthes krejcii Hustedt in Archiv für Hydrobiologie 43: 345. 1950. Illustrated by Hustedt in Schmidt (1937), pl. 409, figs 44–51 and by Simonsen in Simonsen (1987), pl. 334, figs 26–34.
Described as a fossil species from Romania ( Hustedt 1950), P. krejcii shows similarities with the also subfossil North American species Platessa strelnikovae Enache, Potapova & E. Morales (2014: 240) .The only known microscopic images of this species are the ones provided by Simonsen (1987).
