Current name: Hiptage benghalensis (L.) Kurtz View in CoL ( Malpighiaceae ).

Note: Friedman (in Bosser & al., Fl. Mascareignes 58: 1. 1987) wrongly indicated 589.3 (LINN), a Browne collection received by Linnaeus in 1758, as the type, and Srivastava (in Candollea 47: 605. 1992) did the same for 589.1 (LINN), a König collection acquired long after 1753. Neither collection is original material for the name.
