Putative synapomorphies: radical leaves1-2, circular, flattened or fistulose in transverse section; tunic leathery, dark grey to dark brown; inflorescence cymose, rarely umbellate; filament glabrous; tepals acute at the apex, yellow adaxially, hardened and enlarged after anthesis.
