Type locality. Pará, delta of the Amazon River (02°10’N – 48°07’W), 49 m.
Description. See Brandão et al. (2010).
Remarks. Contrary to Brandão et al. (2010) the carapace branchiostegal regions of S. amazonicus and S. lobatus have only one transversal row of distinct granules. The second row mentioned by Brandão et al. (2010) is actually considered herein to be part of the branchiostegal margin.
Distribution. Presently known from Martinique and Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Alagoas, Sergipe, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul) on sand-muddy bottoms, between 23 and 130 m.
