Type species
Cantheconesia cyanacantha ( Stål, 1870) .
Etymology
The name derives from ‘ Cantheconidea ’, because of its similarity and taxonomic history + termination ‘esia’ from the Melanesia and Polynesia subregions, where the species occurs.
Diagnosis
Head as long as wide. Anterolateral margins of pronotum crenulated and sinuous. Anterior angle of pronotum slightly produced. Humeral angles acute and slightly produced. Legs uniformly pale-yellow colored. Basal angles of scutellum with black and ellipsoid foveae. Peritreme disc-type, rectilinear; metapleural evaporatorium surrounding peritreme, not reaching lateral margin of pleura; mesopleural evaporatorium concentrated in two different areas, not reaching lateral margin of pleura. Presence of pair of metasternal processes holding apex of labium, with region between and surrounding processes black.
