Genus Caribocalisius new genus

Type species: Calisius farri Kormilev 1964

Diagnosis. Caribocalisius farri shares some characters as truncate clypeus, long slender antennae with segment IV without plaques, similar structure of pronotum, female ptg VIII without exposed connecting sclerite and venter without sublateral tubercles on vltg II–VII with Calisius pallipes . However, it differs in male by the conspicuous posterior projection of exposed ptg VIII concealing the crescent shaped sternite VIII bearing spiracles VIII which are not visible from above; in both sexes by spiracles II–VI ventral and VII lateral and by lateral margins of deltg II–VII with dorsally 2 and ventrally 3 round tubercles.

BOLD sequence data obtained for C. farri and the European C. salicis , undoubtedly belonging to Aradosyrtis , show a genetic difference of more than 27%, an unusually high value for conspecifics ( Ratnasingham & Hebert, 2007; Park et al., 2013). Such a value is considered as an indication for generic level differences, also supporting the assignment of Calisius farri and C.salicis to different genera now recognized, based on morphological reexamination and analysis.
