Type species: Scolopocryptops melanostoma Newport, 1845 , by subsequent designation of Lucas (1849) .

Included species: Twenty-two valid species are recognized in Chilobase (http://chilobase.bio.unipd.it) ( Minelli et al., 2006 onwards). One has been placed in synonymy since the most recent update; Scolopocryptops verdescens (Chamberlin, 1920) is a junior subjective synonym of S. melanostoma Newport fide Chagas Juniór (2010).
