Type Locality: Ecuador, Napo-Pastaza Prov., "Paramo of Papallacta … east of Quito, only just south of the Equator … about 11,000 feet [3353 m] above the sea".

Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
