Subspecies Colobus satanas subsp. anthracinus Leconte 1857
Distribution: SW Gabon, Rio Muni and Bioko ( Equatorial Guinea), SW Cameroon; possibly Republic of Congo (Carpaneto, 1995).
Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; U.S. ESA – Endangered; IUCN – Endangered as C. s. satanus, Data Deficient as C. s. antracinus, otherwise Vulnerable.
Discussion: McAllan and Bruce (1989) argued that the original publication of this species is: The Analyst, 24:298-299 [publ. 2 July 1838].
