Diagnosis. Head capsule quadrate, with only a pair of occipital tubercles; genae flattened and enlarged, projecting anteriorly; maxillary canines with lateral serrations; thorax with no tubercles but with acute anterolateral projections on pronotum that differ from other Notacanthella . Abdomen with well-developed, pointed tubercles and acute posterolateral projections ( Figs 6 View FIGURE 6 A–B).
Eggs (dissected from final larval instar): length 191.33 µm, width 90 µm. Ovoid with one small polar cap; chorion with reticulations, several lateral attachment structures in subpolar areas ( Fig. 7A View FIGURE 7 ); micropyles tagenoform- type on equatorial area ( Fig. 7B View FIGURE 7 ). Knob-terminated coiled thread (KCT) of attachment structure formed by several microfilaments ( Fig. 7C View FIGURE 7 ).
