Type Locality: Iran, S coast of Caspian Sea.
Vernacular Names: Caspian Shrew.
Distribution: Iran, S coast of Caspian Sea.
Discussion: A distinct, chocolate-brown shrew formerly included in C. russula ( Ellerman and Morrison-Scott, 1966) or C. leucodon . Zaitsev (1993) redefined the species and mapped its range.
