Conomorphus brevicornis Champion
Conomorphus brevicornis Champion 1889:99 ; Blair 1928:32; Blackwelder 1945:494. LECTOTYPE. Sex unknown, in BMNH (examined).
Conomorphus lineatus Pic 1920:17 ; Pic 1929:207; Blackwelder 1945:494. HOLO- TYPE. Sex unknown, labelled ‘‘GOYAZ RIO VERDE/ type / TYPE / lineatus Pic / sp. pres flavicornis Chp.,’’ in MNHN, Pic Coll, new synonym.
Conomorphus brevevittatus Pic 1931:33 ; Blackwelder 1945:496. HOLOTYPE. Sex unknown, labelled ‘‘Corumba Matt. Grosso/voisin de flavicornis Chp./type/ TYPE/ Conomorphus brevivittatus n sp.,’’ in MNHN, Pic Coll, new synonym. This species was described originally in Conopalpus with footnote saying ‘‘Lire
Conomorphus au lieu de Conopalpus .’’ This seems to have been a lapsus by Pic.
Blackwelder (1945) included the species within Conopalpus , also.
252 Conomorphus is one of the largest genera within Eurypinae (e.g., Blair 1928), with many undescribed species represented in several collections worldwide. Conomorphus brevicornis is one of the most distinctive of these, however, having a characteristic black marginal elytral stripe with a triangular interruption at about midlength. The types of both of Pic’s species exhibited the same distinctive color pattern.
