Remarks. This form is occasionally confused with

Bulimina marginata d’Orbigny that has short spines on the acute peripheral margins, whereas B. aculeata has a lower spiral with thick and long spines in its bluntly rounded periphery. Loeblich and Tappan (1994) described B. acaenapeza as a new species, listing B. aculeata of Akimoto (1990) and

Ujiié (1990) as synonyms. Despite this, we think B.

acaenapeza is identical to B. aculeata .

Occurrence. Sporadic in the Yonahama Formation, rare in the Minebari Formation.
