Ficus corpulenta Pittier, Bol. Soc. Venez. Ci. Nat. View in CoL 8: 257. 1943.
Lectotype (designated here): — VENEZUELA. Amazonas, between Tamatama and Esmeralda, Isla Solitaria, 7 May 1942, Ll. Williams 15237 (NY-1043553!; isolectotypes: PH!, US!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the name of the herbarium where the type of F. corpulenta was deposited. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) indicated the gathering Williams 15237 (VEN) as the holotype, which could be consider a lectotypification, but it occurred after 2001 and the phrase “designated here” was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). We did not find the specimen after an online research of the type collections at VEN herbarium. Here, we chose Williams 15237 (NY-1043553) as the lectotype because it contains branches, leaves, stipules, and syconia.
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
