Ficus rojasi H. Lév. in Rojas Acosta, Bull. Géogr. Bot. 28: 160. 1918, non Hassler (1919), nom. illeg.
Neotype (designated here): — ARGENTINA. Salta, 27 June 1944, Rojas 11272 (LIL-108031!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not include the collector’s name, collector’s number, or herbarium where the type of F.rojasi was deposited. Only the locality is stated: banks of Bermejo River border ( Argentina). Based on the scanty information available from the protologue, the type was never found ( Berg & Villavicencio 2004). To solve this problem, we selected the specimen Rojas 11272 (LIL) as a neotype because it was collected in Salta, one of the regions where the Rio Bermejo, which is mentioned in the protologue, runs through. The specimen also has the characteristics described in protologue.
Taxonomical notes:— Berg & Villavicencio (2004) cited Ficus rojasi as a possible synonymous for Ficus maroma Castellanos. If this hypothesis is confirmed the species must be named as Ficus rojasi because of the priority rules ( Turland et al. 2018).
