Ficus umbonigera Warb., Symb. Antill. (Urban) View in CoL . 3(3): 480. 1903.
Lectotype (designated here): — TRINIDAD. Between Latrea and Irais, 6 June 1868, Hart 2808 ( US!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the herbarium where the type of F. umbonigera was deposited. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) indicated Hart 2808 ( B) as the holotype ; however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it occurred after 2001 and the sentence “designated here” or similar phrase was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). We were unable to locate the collection at Berlin ( B). Here , we designate the collection of Hart 2808 ( US) as the lectotype because it contains a branch, leaves, stipules, and preserved syconia .
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
