Ficus martinii Miq., Ann. Mus. Bot. Lugduno-Batavi View in CoL 3: 219. 1867.
Lectotype (designated here): — FRENCH GUIANA. without locality, Martin s.n. (P-00089299!; isolectotypes: FI-011703!, FI-011704!, FI-011705!, G!, L!, K!, NY!, P-00089297!, P-00089298!, U!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the name of the herbarium where the type of F. martinii was deposited. Berg & DeWolf (1975) listed several isotypes, but Berg (1992) considered the holotype to be deposited in Utrecht (U). This could be considered as lectotypification ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11); however, the material at U contains only a lamina of a leaf, being in disagreement of the protologue that describes branches, stipules, petioles, lamina, peduncle, receptacles, and flowers. Therefore, the choice of U material should be annulled ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 9.19) and, herein, we designate the material deposited in P-00089299 as the lectotype because it contains all the elements listed above.
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
