Ficus oblanceolata Rusby, Bull. View in CoL New York Bot. Gard. 4: 446, 1907, non Rusby (1910), nom. illeg.
Lectotype (designated here): — BOLIVIA. Sud Yungas, Coroico, 2 October 1894, A. M.Bang 2369 (NY-25325!; isolectotypes: B!, C!, CORD!, F-64484!, F-64485!, G!, K!, LE!, NY-25328!, MICH!, MIN!, PH!, PUL!, US!).
Nomenclatural notes:— The protologue does not state the herbarium where the type of F. oblanceolata was deposited. Berg & Villavicencio (2004) indicated A. M. Bang 2369 ( NY) as the holotype ; however, this cannot be considered a lectotypification because it occurred after 2001 and the “designated here” or similar phrase was not used ( Turland et al. 2018, Art. 7.11). Here, we designate the specimen NY-25325 as the lectotype because it contains well-preserved branches, leaves, stipules, and syconia. Furthermore, the specimen NY-25328 was transferred to NY in 1948 from the College of Pharmacy Herbarium , i.e., after the protologue publication .
Taxonomical notes:— The currently accepted name for this taxon is Ficus americana subsp. guianensis .
