Type:— “ In Brasilia boreali in sylvis ad flum. Casiquiari”, R. Spruce 3437 (lectotype K-000329466!, designated here; isolectotype P-00219230!) .

There are two sheets of Spruce 3437, deposited at K and P respectively. We selected K-000329466 as the lectotype because the label presents habit information that was cited by Triana in his description and the sheet also bears a handwritten species name with the statement “sp. nov.” by Triana. Therefore it best fits the description in the protologue of A. rotundifolia .
