Mattfeld described Drymaria stereophylla based on a series of specimens collected by A. Raimondi (2502, 2903) and J. F. Macbride and W. Featherstone (563, 962, 1761). However, the protologue does not mention which specimen is the holotype. Furthermore, it is likely that the specimens deposited at B were destroyed in World War II along with most of the type specimens of angiosperms as mentioned by Hiepko (1987) since there are no original specimens there. Thus, the Macbride & Featherstone specimen deposited at F [517490 / F 0042715 F!] is designated as the lectotype.
Because the holotype of Drymaria stereophylla var. exstipulata at B was probably destroyed, here we designated one of the specimens at US as the lectotype.
