Eritrichium aktonense Y.S.Lian & J.Q.Wang View in CoL in Wang et al. (1980a: 42)

Type:— CHINA. Xinjiang: Aketao, from Bulunkou to Taxkorgan, 3580 m, 29 June 1978, Northwest Inst. Bot. Xinjiang Exped. 751 (holotype NWTC- 333228!, isotype NWTC- 333227!).

Distribution and habitat: — Eritrichium aktonense is rather rare and currently only known from southern Xinjiang (Aketao and Taxkorgan), China. It grows in rock slope and rock crevices at elevation ranges from 3580 to 3876 m.

Phenology: —Flowering and fruiting from June to September.

Taxonomic notes: — Eritrichium aktonense can be easily distinguish from E. longifolium by external morphology (eg. procumbent stems and leaf shape) and nutlets without broadly membranous wings. Based on the field observations and literature consulting, we found E. aktonense is more closed to E. subjacquemontii except several slightly differences in nutlets. In addition, an identification key for Eritrichium aktonense , E. longifolium and E. petiolare is also provided for easy and correct identification.

Additional specimens examined: — CHINA. Xinjiang: Aketao , 18 July 2016, J. C. Hao & Y. Zhou 16802 (BNU!) ; Taxkorgan , 19 July 2016, J. C. Hao & Y. Zhou 16834 (BNU!) .
