Recognition. M. delavayi was sometimes confused with H. zhongdianensis , but can be easily distinguished by their ribs of fruits (linear vs. winged) and bracts length (2–4 mm vs. 7–9 mm) ( Table 3).
Description. Herbs perennial. Plants 40–80 cm. Taproot fusiform several branched with cyclic striae. Stems striped. Basal petioles 5–20 cm, sheaths short, membranous, perished leaf sheaths flaky or fibrous; basal blade 3–4- pinnate, 8–15 × 4–12 cm; pinnae 6–9 pairs, lower pinnae long-petiolulate; terminal leaflets subulate or antler-shaped or less dissected obovate, 3–10 × 1–4 mm, deeply lobed or irregularly serrate. Leaves reduced upwards, uppermost small, shortly petiolate or sessile. Umbels 4–7 cm across; peduncles 8–25 cm; rays 5–8, 3– 5 cm, spreading; Bracts 1–3, linear-subulate, 2–4 × 0.5 mm, with minute white edge; bracteoles 6–7, linear, ca. 3mm, with minute white edge; pedicels unequal. Petals white, broadly ovoid, apex inflexed, medial rib obvious, ca. 1.2 × 1 mm. Stylopodium shortconic. Fruit oblong-ovate, mericarp ca. 3–4 × 2 mm, commissure ca. 1.6 mm in width; calyx teeth subulate, 0.4–0.6 mm; ribs filiform, 2–3 vallecular vittae, 4 commissural vittae.
