Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None.

Comments: No references to this species are found within the available documentation. None of the species described in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis manuscript can be definitively attributed to the species in question. Selene vomer occurs in the Western Atlantic from Maine to Uruguay ( Smith-Vaniz 2002).
