Lobotes surinamensis (Bloch 1790)

Extant specimens: MCUC ZOO.0000064 ( Fig. 61 ).

Classification on the specimen: None.

Common names on the specimen (Portuguese/Tupi): None.

Comments: This species was undescribed at the time Veloso prepared it. This species cannot be assigned to any listed species in any documentation related to this collection. Also, no description fitting this species is found in the Ichthyologia Fluminensis manuscript. Lobotes surinamensis occurs in tropical and temperate waters circumglobally ( Carpenter 2002c).
