Material examined. IRAN: Fars, Larestan , loc. 3, 26.vii.2112, (1 ♀) (in CIRAD: GDEL0357 ); same data , 09.iv.2013 (5 ♂) (in JIAU).
Distribution. The species is widely distributed in the Old World tropics, reaching the Southern Palaearctic region on the border of its distribution. This is a new record for Iran.
Hosts. Dirhinus anthracia was reared from a wide range of hosts, such as Tephritidae and synanthropic flies ( Calliphoridae , Sarcophagidae , Muscidae ) and it may also be a hyperparasitoid of Lepidoptera ( Pyralidae , Zygaenidae , Bombycidae and Noctuidae ) and even Orthoptera (Acrididae) through Tachinidae . Five other Dirhinus species have already been recorded from Iran ( Table 1).
