Sphaerolecanium Šulc, 1908: 36 View in CoL . Type species: Coccus prunastri Boyer de Fonscolombe View in CoL by monotypy and original designation.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Dorsum of slide-mounted adult female with long band of preopercular pores mixed with long fine setae extending from anal plates anteriorly to level of antennae; venter without tubular ducts; pregenital disc-pores mostly each with 6 loculi, which extend only to metathorax. Legs lacking tibio-tarsal articulatory scleroses; claw digitules dissimilar.
Comments: Sphaerolecanium Šulc is a monotypic genus found in the Palaearctic region, including Iran, although it has been intercepted also from elsewhere in the world ( García Morales et al. 2016).
