Eriococcus cingulatus Kiritchenko, 1940: 131‒133 View in CoL . Rhizococcus cingulatus (Kiritchenko) View in CoL ; Kosztarab & Kozár 1988: 300. Anophococcus cingulatus (Kiritchenko) ; Kozár et al. 2013: 192‒196.

Field characteristics: Body of live adult female elongate oval. Ovisac short, oval, white and closely felted, completely enclosing body.

Microscopic diagnosis: Slide-mounted body of adult female elongate oval, tapering posteriorly. Antennae each with 7 segments. Frontal lobes and frontal tubercles present. Legs well developed; meso- and metathoracic coxae with spinulae on anterior surface; each hind coxa and femur with small translucent pores on both anterior and posterior surfaces; hind tibia with 5 setae (median seta present); tarsal and claw digitules slightly knobbed; claw with a denticle. Anal lobes well developed, each lobe with 3 blunt conical enlarged setae. Anal ring oval, with 1 row of pores and bearing 8 setae.

Dorsum with marginal enlarged setae slightly truncate, forming a marginal row with 2 or 3 setae on either side of each segment; submarginal setae conical; dorsal setae conical, small, arranged in transverse rows across each body segment. Macrotubular ducts scattered throughout. Microtubular ducts scattered. Cauda present (not illustrated).

Venter with hair-like setae in median area, and small conical setae on margin and submargin. Disc-pores each with 2 concentric rings of loculi, with 3, 5 or 8 loculi in inner ring, distributed in sparse bands on all abdominal and thoracic segments and head. Macrotubular ducts of 2 sizes: (i) larger ducts situated on submargin; and (ii) smaller ducts present in median area. Microtubular ducts sparse submarginally and sometimes present on median area of thorax. Cruciform pores few in submarginal areas, sparse on head and thoracic margins.

Distribution: Anophococcus cingulatus is a Palaearctic species that has been recorded from 13 countries ( García Morales et al. 2016); in Iran, it was found in Azarbaijan -e Sharghi province ( Moghaddam 2013).

Host-plants: The scale is fairly polyphagous, having been recorded on host-plants belonging to 19 genera in 11 families ( García Morales et al. 2016); in Iran it was found on an unidentified plant ( Moghaddam 2013).

Economic importance: Not known as a pest in Iran.

Natural enemies: None recorded in Iran.
