Genus PARTHENOLECANIUM Šulc View in CoL View at ENA

Parthenolecanium Šulc, 1908: 36 View in CoL . Type species: Lecanium corni Bouché by subsequent designation. Lecanium (Pterolecanium) Šulc, 1932: 53 . Pterolecanium Morrison & Morrison, 1966: 169.

Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Live adult female convex, covered with thin flaky wax or pubescent powdery wax; derm becoming heavily sclerotized with age. No ovisac is produced. Slide-mounted, body usually with stigmatic clefts developed; stigmatic setae numbering 3 in each cleft, with middle seta longest. Preopercular pores present anterior to anal plates. Ventral tubular ducts of 2 or more types present in submarginal band, numerous medially on head but usually absent from near bases of antennae and procoxae. Pregenital disc-pores mostly each with 10 loculi, numerous anterior to anogenital fold and extending anteriorly to prothorax. Marginal setae strongly spinose. Dorsal duct tubercles present.

Comments: Worldwide, 16 species are included in Parthenolecanium ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; two species are known from Iran ( Bodenheimer 1944b).

- Marginal setae hair-like or bristle-like, often curved posteriorly. Ventral tubular ducts in submarginal band of 3 types, 1 of which has inner ductule obviously wider than outer ductule. Dorsal submarginal duct tubercles numbering 12−21 or more on each side............................................................................ persicae (Fabricius)
