Acanthopulvinaria Borchsenius, 1952b: 301 View in CoL . Type species: Pulvinaria orientalis Nasonov View in CoL by original designation.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: The live adult female secretes a large ovisac, which protrudes from the rear end of the insect. Slide-mounted, body lacking stigmatic clefts. Dorsal and marginal setae spinose. Stigmatic setae, if present, reduced to a single small seta on margin at outer end of each spiracular furrow. Anal cleft fairly short. Multilocular disc-pores numerous around anogenital fold. Ventral tubular ducts of 3 types, present in a broad submarginal ring. Antennae well developed, each with 8 or 9 segments. Legs well developed, each with a tibio-tarsal articulatory sclerosis; claw digitules both similar and fine. Anal plates together quadrate, each plate with a subdiscal seta.
Comments: Acanthopulvinaria is a monotypic genus; A. orientalis has been recorded in 14 Palaearctic countries including Iran ( García Morales et al. 2016).
