Genus ERIOPELTIS Signoret View in CoL View at ENA
Eriopeltis Signoret, 1872b: 429 View in CoL . Type species: Coccus festucae Fonscolombe View in CoL by monotypy and original designation.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Live adult female completely enclosed by felt-like ovisac. Slide-mounted, body lacking stigmatic clefts and setae (apart from a few pregenital setae). Large, truncate-conical spines present throughout almost entire dorsum. Legs and antennae much reduced in size. Anal cleft short.
Comments: Worldwide, nine species are included in Eriopeltis Signoret ( García Morales et al. 2016); only E. festucae (Boyer de Fonscolombe) is known from Iran ( Bodenheimer 1944b).
