Genus EULECANIUM Cockerell View in CoL View at ENA
Eulecanium Cockerell, 1893a: 54 View in CoL . Type species: Lecanium tiliae Linnaeus View in CoL by original designation, accepted valid name; type designation confirmed by Opinion 1303, International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (1985). Lecanium (Globulicoccus) Lindinger, 1907: 138 . Sphaerolecanium Leonardi, 1908: 181 View in CoL . Type species: Lecanium emerici Planchon View in CoL , synonym and homonym. Globulicoccus MacGillivray, 1921: 180.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Live adult female highly convex and heavily sclerotized at maturity, derm often with distinct areolations; does not produce an ovisac. Slide-mounted, body with dorsal setae spinose; spiracular clefts not developed; and stigmatic setae numbering 3 or fewer in each spiracular area. Marginal setae usually of 2 types: (i) finely setose at either end of body, and (ii) spinose on lateral margins. Pregenital disc-pores, each with 10 loculi, present on all abdominal and thoracic segments and lateral to antennal bases. Spiracular disc-pores each with 5 loculi, present in a narrow band between each spiracle and margin. Preopercular pores, if present, forming a distinct group anterior to anal plates. Dorsal tubular ducts present. Ventral tubular ducts of 2 types. Legs well developed, each without a tibio-tarsal articulatory sclerosis; claw usually held at right-angles to tarsus; claw digitules with small apical dilations. Anal plates with at least 1 seta on inner margin.
Comments: Worldwide, 51 species are included in Eulecanium ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; three species are known in Iran ( Bodenheimer 1944b).
