Genus BAMBUSASPIS Cockerell
Asterolecanium (Bambusaspis) Cockerell, 1902: 114 . Type species: Chermes miliaris Boisduval by subsequent designation in Sanders (1906: 6).
Field characters: Species of Bambusaspis are usually confined to bamboo hosts. Live adult female living under a glassy test, elongate and often very narrow.
Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Slide-mounted, body with a marginal row of 8-shaped pores. A pair of submedian dorsal tubes present near posterior end of abdomen. Venter with interrupted row of submarginal setae, these absent forwards from anterior spiracles.
Comments: Worldwide, 61 species are included in Bambusaspis ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; only B. bambusae (Boisduval) is known from Iran ( Farahbakhsh 1961).
