Genus ANTECEROCOCCUS Green

Antecerococcus Green, 1901: 560 . Type species: Antecerococcus punctiferus Green by monotypy. Phenacobryum Cockerell, 1902: 114 . Amelococcus Marchal, 1904: 557 , 560. Cercococcus Scott, 1907: 455 .

Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Slide-mounted, body with anal lobes rarely sclerotized throughout; each lobe with a long apical seta. Antennae generally unsegmented but occasionally with 2 segments, each usually bearing 7 fleshy setae. Leg stubs present or absent. Structure, size and distribution of dorsal 8-shaped pores important taxonomically: dorsum with up to 4 sizes of 8-shaped pore; largest pores associated with each stigmatic band but also present along margins and sometimes in swirls or bands medially on dorsum; smallest pores generally present across posterior abdominal segments (posterior to cribriform plates) and in outer ends of stigmatic pore bands. Spiracular disc-pores present in a group anterior to each spiracle, not in a semi-circle laterad to, or posterior to, peritreme. Simple pores, typical of family, present but rarely showing anything significant. Multilocular disc-pores present or absent, each usually with 10 loculi. Cribriform plates always present in a submedial group on each side of abdominal segment IV. Tubular ducts of only 1 size on dorsum. Median anal plate typical of family. Anal ring bearing 4 pairs of setae.

Comments: Worldwide, 56 species are included in Antecerococcus ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; only A. longipilosus (Archangelskaya) is known from Iran ( Kaussari 1957).
