Genus GUERINIELLA Fernald View in CoL View at ENA

Guerinia Targioni Tozzetti, 1868: 724 View in CoL . Type species: Guerinia tinctoria Targioni Tozzetti 1868 by monotypy (= Coccus serratulae Fabricius, 1775 ), junior homonym. Gueriniella Fernald, 1903: 331 View in CoL (replacement name).

Diagnostic characters of the adult female: Slide-mounted adult females of this genus are recognized by: (i) adult female elongate oval, with membranous derm and covered with numerous hairs; (ii) labium long conical, 3 segmented, with basal segment very narrow; (iii) antennae each with 11 segments; (iv) legs well developed, usually covered with stout setae; (v) thoracic spiracles large, without pores present near atrium; (vi) abdominal spiracles in 4 pairs on abdominal segments V–VIII; (vii) anal opening simple, lacking specialized pores; (viii) inner ring of anal tube with pores; (ix) cicatrices circular to slightly elliptical, numbering 3–5; (x) marsupium absent; (xi) ovisac band absent; (xii) vulvar opening surrounded by pores each with bilocular center and 10–12 outer loculi, and hair-like setae.

Comments: The genus contains only two species, G. decorata Borchsenius and G. serratulae (Fabricius) ( García Morales et al. 2016) ; only G. serratulae has been recorded from Iran (Moghaddam & Tavakoli 2009).
