Genus ORTHEZIA Bosc d’Antic View in CoL

Diagnostic characters of the adult female: The genus Orthezia View in CoL is recognized by having: (i) live adult female entirely covered by white wax plates; and in slide-mounted specimens, (ii) antennae each with 7 or 8 segments, basal 3 segments not conspicuously enlarged; (iii) tibia and tarsus clearly divided; claws usually with denticles; (iv) spines grouped in definite bands and clusters; (v) anal ring with 6 long setae; (vi) thoracic spiracles each without atrial disc pores; and (vii) disc pores of quadrilocular type only.
Comments: Worldwide, 23 species are included in Orthezia at present ( García Morales et al. 2016); only O. urticae (Linnaeus) is known from Iran ( Kaussari 1957).
